This piece was designed for the LSU lecture series Malleable Language—a visual and critical exploration of the artistic tradition of combining word and image in a series of exhibitions, lectures, and academic activities. In the fall, we have the distinct honor to welcome Marc Fumaroli, French historian, essayist, and member of the Académie française. Among his celebrated publications is the book When the World Spoke French. In the spring, the College of Art + Design hosts New York based artist in residence Nari Ward, the Nadine Carter Russell Endowed Chair, who will work both on campus with students and with the Baton Rouge community on several cultural initiatives.
